Much to say today................ I must chronicle yesterday so I don't forget the horrific memory....
After waiting for--oh, the last six months or so for all the doggie poop in the backyard to "bio-degrade" and just blend pleasantly into the yard's grass...I finally came to the conclusion that the poop just isn't going anywhere....I know this by one tell tale sign....Cooper unceremoniously took a dump at the edge of my neighbor's yard (adjacent to my front yard), and I've been keeping an eye on it every time we walk by....needless to say, it is still the exact same mass, shape (well, there is a smooshed part now), and color as it was the moment the steaming sausage popped out of Cooper's bum....and that was sometime in late August....so, based on that experimental control, I know that the landmine in my backyard will not be clearing up anytime soon....So, to make a long story even longer, I decided yesterday was the day I was going to suck it up and do some major poop patrol. I put about 5 plastic bags one over the other, basically making a very reinforced receptacle. I wore heavy rubber gloves, and used a plastic baggie over my scooping hand for an extra layer. Once I got started, I was on a mission....Soon I was holding a bag that was, I kid you not, 10 lbs in weight. TEN LBS of SHIT!!! And let me tell you, the freezing weather we've had recently didn't neatly freeze all the presents like I expected!! Let's just say it was a very messy, sometimes gooey experience. After I had accumulated about 14 lbs of sheer shit in the bag, I decided I had scooped to my satisfaction. I tripled bagged the sucker in a big brown trash bag, and put in in my trash barrel. Due to the holidays, trash collection was scheduled for today....however, since I've been staying up late (watching hrs upon hrs of HGTV) my early morning wake ups have been nipping the 11 am hour on average. But I could not miss putting the trash out, since there was a huge bag of poop to be carted off! What do you know, this morning as I'm laying in bed I hear the distinctive loud sounds of the trash dump truck pull up in front of the house. I bolted out of bed, threw on a robe, and hit the garage door opener...the guys were just pulling away from the house...they saw my pathetic, bed-headed desperation as I raced to the curb, so the one guy yells, "Put in on the other side of the street!!" Whew!! They were coming back around to do the other side!! Hallelujah!!!
Another very productive thing I did yesterday was outfit my dining area/kitchen to contain the dogs when I'm gone...I bought a metal dog pen, which I stretched out across the 10 ft+ wide opening to the dining room. Exit one blockaded. Next I bought two child gates, and rigged them to meet in the middle,to barricade my den, which has a 6.5 ft opening....Now I will feel so much better about leaving the house!! The dogs still have free run of the backyard, and have plenty of inside room to run around and stay warm! I've placed 3 different doggie beds in the dining room, so they have plenty of places to lay down and lounge. Now I don't have to lock Coopy up in his kennel when I leave....I'm so happy!!
I also bought two new prints to go on my red wall. They add so much to the room!! I also went to Home Depot and bought some more of the red paint, so I could do much needed touch up to the walls. I've been procrastinating for months, but I'm hosting book club in two weeks, so I need it to look neat and trim!
Tonight I made chicken fajitas and watched Enemy of the State. Last night I stayed up til like 2 am watching One Hour Photo with Robin Williams....it was tres disturbing. Michael Vartan (currently Jennifer Garner's beau du jour)was in the movie and he looked like ass. Oh, I also watched 2 Fast 2 Furious the other day...it was 2 Dull, 2 Dumb.
Oh, I forgot a funny story..last night I pulled out the trusty flute, as well as the book of music I bought years ago...."From this Moment On & Other Great Love Songs" Much to Cooper and Jackson's intense irritation (& probably some hearing loss), I screeched out favorites like, "Because You Loved Me" by Celine; "Butterfly Kisses"; "From this Moment On" by Shania;"I Finally Found Someone" by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams; "My Heart will Go On" by Celine; "You Were Meant for Me" by Jewel; and "You're Still the One" by Shania. My fluting skills were very very rusty...luckily I had a captive audience (not voluntarily). By the end of my concert, both dogs had burrowed their heads into the farthest corners of the sectional...."Oh, does my playing hurt your super sensitive canine hearing?"
I think I'm going to buy some more cheesy sheet music to entertain myself....maybe I'll play a surprise solo at Emily and Pete's wedding....hehe.....
Au revoir, Live Journal....until we meet again!!!

Long Time No Write I haved been slacking on the journal....right now my belly is hanging over the waist of my jeans by at least 3 inches...and I'm not kidding...all I want to do is unleash the loaf....for lunch I had an Arby's Kids Adventure Meal...I know, I am bad for supporting the filthy fast food industry....but I am on a budget until the next payday, and I wanted something quick. I went to Wal-mart afterwards to pick up some t.p. and some more dog rawhide chewies....I swear my boys are as OCD as I am about stuff...they will literally chew a 4 inch long chewie like it is their last mission on earth. If I don't give them each one late in the evening when I'm trying to enjoy my hours of TV, they get restless and act up....last night they were especially naughty and Coopy even "marked" on my blanket I was using on the couch right in front of me. The little booger. Finally, HOURS later, they calmed down and both insisted on curling up in my lap at the same time...so basically they were curled into each other, both jockeying for prime time lap real estate....ahh, to feel loved and wanted...if only by a 4 legged canine...I am really enjoying my new flat screen TV...why oh why didn't I get one sooner??? What in the dickens will I find to eat tonight? I hate to have a boring meal....last night I whipped up the most delicious pasta sauce off the cuff with some random ingredients I had on hand....here it is for you culinarily inclined: Sautee chopped onions or shallots (shallots are delicious!!) in some olive oil. Add a can of diced tomatoes that you first puree in a food processor. Add dash of heavy cream, dash of red pepper flakes, dash of white wine, tablespoon of sugar, and salt and pepper. I also added some fresh chopped parsley for color. Stir and pour over favorite pasta....delicious!

Full and Not Working I left work at 2:15 pm today...went to the local nursery to look at their tree selection...I have got to plant my trees soon before the ground freezes! I was so overwhelmed at the choices...on my way home I stopped at the Sonic and got a Coney Dog and tater tots. Little did I realize the "Coney" consists of a footlong hotdog smothered in chili and cheese....talk about asking for mid-afternoon indigestion...but alas, I saved enough for the dogs to partake..so in t minus 4 hrs, all three of us should be burping and farting up a storm...lovely thought, isn't it?

Dinner and Dogs Today I had my friend, Misty over for dinner. We had chicken enchiladas. The dogs were on somewhat good behavior, although Jackson of course begged for food the entire time. We had dessert in the den (double mint chocolate chip cookies). Jackson hopped on Misty's lap hoping to distract her with his seemingly cuddlyness...although I knew his real motive--he wanted closer access to her cookie. Sure enough he casually tried to sneak a bite of her cookie after a quick lick to her lips to throw her off guard....oh Jackson....
Today I bought an external CD-RW drive....I copied all my digital photos that I had saved on my laptop to a CD. I would just die a thousand deaths if anything had happened to my hardrive and I lost all my pics....they are priceless! My entire life for the past 2 years..
By the way, I am pissed I missed the Elizabeth Smart movie tonight on NBC....damn!!
